Melanie is Founder and CEO of a tech start-up called Ap’et. Ap’et is developing a B2B web-based platform which will have a huge impact on e- and m- commerce, by helping businesses with particular issues they are currently facing in their supply chain management and cyber security. The largest vertical for Ap’et’s customer base is the fashion industry.
Melanie’s professional background is in intellectual property law. She holds four degrees from the University of Western Australia and the University of Oxford, in law and science. She is dual-qualified as a solicitor and barrister in her native Australia and a solicitor in England & Wales, where she has practiced for most of her career.
Melanie is an alumna of prestigious law firms such as Ashurst and Nabarro, and was Global IP Counsel for Jaguar Land Rover.
Melanie’s practice focused on branding, marketing and creative sectors. She regularly advised on brand protection strategy, trade mark and copyright issues, anti-counterfeiting, online strategy, IP aspects of commercial transactions, sponsorships, collaborations and endorsements.
She has worked with many household names, frequently on international matters. In the fashion sector, those have included Christian Dior, Levi Strauss, J.Crew, Lulu Guinness and the owners of high-end shopping centres like Brent Cross, One New Change and the Bullring.
Melanie is a champion of women entrepreneurs and spends her free time mentoring and assisting women who are starting their own businesses.
