Jane Austin – Head of UX at The Telegraph
Jane is the a user experience specialist with a particular interest in data, start-ups and how UX works with Agile and Lean.
She is currently focused on bringing user research into the design process and using prototypes to evolve design.
Nick Reynolds – Assistant Editor, BBC Online at BBC Digital
Nick is the Assistant Editor for BBC Online and BBC Digital. His is passionate about social media, innovation and content production. He was also formerly a Social Media Executive.
Nick previously ran the BBC’s moderation service, which was a half a million pound contract with an external supplier. He found moderation fascinating as “you’re making sophisticated judgments about how people behave online”. He also ran H2G2, a user generated content site with a loyal and lively community.
He is currently in charge of rolling out Social Flow to the BBC. Social Flow is a publishing and listening tool which the BBC has procured to better manage official Twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts.
Nick is very interested in the ethics of digital and worked as a Senior Adviser in the BBC’s Editorial Policy unit for over ten years.
Pip Jamieson – Founder of The Dots
Pip is the Founder of The Dots. Best described as a ‘LinkedIn for creatives’, it’s a professional networking platform designed to help creative professionals and companies showcase work, network, collaborate and connect with commercial opportunities.
The Dots launched in the UK on September 25th and has already attracted over 1,000 + UK/EU companies who have join the site to promote their brand, attract clients and hire talent – some of which are BAFTA, Vice, Spotify, BBC, TATE, Net-a-Porter, Facebook, Wolff Olins, Pentagram, Universal Music, Twitter, Random International, AKQA, Condé Nast, Twitter, V&A, W+K, Guardian and many more
An entrepreneur with over 13 years’ experience in the creative industries, including senior roles at MTV Australia and New Zealand, Pip regularly shares her entrepreneur journey and insights with the likes of Guardian Master classes, Digital Shoreditch, REMIX, Channel 4 Breakfasts, TEDx Sydney, Soho House Group and Creative Mornings.
Lorraine Ruckstuhl – Corporate Director of Barclays TMT
Lorraine has over 20 years’ experience of corporate and investment banking. Before joining the Technology, Media and Telecoms team, she spent five years in Debt Finance at Barclay’s, arranging and providing acquisition finance and term debt facilities to a variety of corporates.
Before that she spent seven years as a Relationship Director working with large UK and European-based media clients, which took her regularly to France, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
The panel will discuss their careers paths and debate how best to use technology to boost your brand, network and profits.
