Andrew Bontiff will be joining our
‘I am young and I am winning’ Inspirational YOUth panel on Saturday 23rd March 2013 at Birkbeck, University of London.
Andrew is a sports enthusiast who began his route into the media by creating his own football magazines from the age of 10 and contributing to school newsletters. At 15 Andrew won a best commentator award at the 2007 BBC Your Game event, leading him to land a week’s works experience at BBC Sport.
Andrew continued to get a further taste of sports reporting by covering matches for Leyton Orient and Tottenham Hotspur reserve teams and then served his apprenticeship in the newsroom writing for The Voice Newspaper.
During his years in higher education, Andrew added to his flourishing CV with stints at leading organisations including Channel 4, Sky Sports News, BBC Radio Five Live and British Eurosport seeing him cover major sporting events from the Wimbledon Tennis Championships to the 2011 UEFA Europa League final.
A recent graduate at the University of East London with a degree in Sports Journalism, Andrew was invited as delegate to attend a world sports conference hosted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Los Angeles and won UEL’s 2012 Sports Journalist of the Year award.
Andrew fulfilled his very own ‘Olympic dream’ by landing a crucial media role during the London 2012 Games, working for the Olympic and Paralympic News Service.
Andrew recently joined the Sports PR team at Weber Shandwick- a leading global multi-specialist PR and Communications firm.
At Weber Shandwick he works with a number of high calibre clients such as PUMA, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and travelled to Qatar to work on the Al Kass International Cup- an U18 football tournament featuring some of the stellar clubs in world football.
His passion to strive and achieve has seen the young man rise up the career ladder and acts as a role model, working on several campaigns in his community to help promote a safe and positive environment.
