Arti Lukha is the News Editor ITV News but working on the foreign desk for ITV News is less of a job and more of a lifestyle for her. She is currently a foreign news editor overseeing international coverage. Her role includes driving the news agenda for the day as well as controlling big stories such as the Arab Spring. Competition between broadcasters is fierce and there is no margin for error. If ITN misses a story it’s the news editor’s head on the block and with fewer resources than other broadcasters it’s a challenging role.

After graduating Arti went on to do a Post Graduate in Journalism which gave her the right qualifications to start her traineeship. Her first job was in sport at the Press Association. She was the first female journalist to be employed by them however whilst she loved sport she realised it was just a passion not a career.

She moved on to be a reporter on the Burton Daily Mail covering a range of stories from horrific murders and council planning meetings to the General Election. After that she became a senior reporter at the Daily Echo in Southampton where she covered fantastic stories including interviewing A-list politicians and celebrities.

Her broadcasting career began at London Tonight on ITVhowever she was quickly spotted by ITN and was offered a job as deputy news editor and promoted soon after.
