Outreach Manager, Radio 1 & Radio 1Xtra
Job Introduction
Radio is the home of eight of the BBC’s national radio stations, six Performing Groups and the BBC Proms as well as classical and pop music production across radio, television and online.
Manager role sits within Radio Content Management and will be part of a team that sits within any of the following disciplines – Production Management, Operations, Business or Scheduling.
Role Responsibility
The Outreach Manager will manage and develop a slate of projects for Radio 1 & 1Xtra. Projects will encompass on air and off air activity to engage our audience and potential audience and attract future talent from a range of backgrounds.
The work of the Outreach Manager will encompass training schemes, work placements, internal and external events, workshops, open days and audience made and audience featured content for broadcast. Working with senior management teams, the Outreach Manager will also inform network strategy in the areas of diversity and inclusion.
The Ideal Candidate
You will need to be driven and passionate about working with and helping young people and ensuring their voice is heard.
We want someone who is passionate about youth culture, understands the role of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and can help us get ever closer to our young listeners.
Experience of working with a wide range of people and an ability to create good relationships across the BBC is vital. A flair for building and maintaining external partnerships is also essential.
You should have experience of leading teams and the ability to conceive and deliver impactful projects. Strong planning and organisational skills are required as is a keen eye for detail.
The ideal candidate will have an awareness of a broadcast environment. Some experience of content production would be beneficial.
You will also have significant experience of managing processes and business systems.
