Sweet Crumbs Bakery – ‘Because Everyone Deserves a Treat…or Two™’

 Sweet Crumbs is a specialist bakery.  What makes you so special and why did you choose this?

Sweet Crumbs Bakery produces and creates delightful bakes for special people. We are a ‘Free From’ company so all our products are free from eggs, dairy and nuts. Gluten free baked goods are also an option, just say the word! Due to the nature of our products, our treats are suitable for vegans too.

There are a few ‘free from’ bakeries, but not many (if at all), produce products ‘free from’ all of the above and provide the service that we provide. Thus a gap in the market there was and with childhood allergies – many still existing, a life time of let downs and deprivation of lives little pleasures; Sweet Crumbs Bakery (SCB) was born.

Why cake?

Interestingly enough, we don’t just bake cakes. We are happy to say that we bake other delightful treats such as; flapjacks, brownies: the nations favourite, and cookies. What was once a secret, we decided we wanted to provide our cakes and bakes to the nation so that everyone could share in ‘our’ lives little pleasures.

Are you juggling your cake business with other things?  If yes how do you manage this?

Currently, we are not juggling the business with anything else. We do Sweet Crumbs Bakery full-time, If we are not baking we are decorating, if we are not decorating we are brainstorming. We live, eat, breath SCB!

What is the most adventurous cake you have made?

Recently, we were given the challenge of making and creating a very popular designer briefcase cake. What a challenge it was, we had a few mishaps like how we were going to get the design exactly right, size shape etc. Making great use of our artistic skills and patience, we managed to crack it in the end. The cake came out really well. The customer was over the moon; that is what it’s all about.

What does the future hold for Sweet Crumbs?

My gosh we have so much in store, we have big plans for SCB – plans are on the go for our first kiosk. Here customers can pick up one (or more) of our delightful bakes without the need to order before hand.

Our latest challenge at the moment is trying to perfect a Free From range of very popular cake pops – miniature moulded decorated cakes on sticks. Currently candy melts commonly use for cake pops aren’t allergen free but that will not stop us! A future product for us, and once we have done it, SCB will blow your mind with our version.  – Before you know it the whole world will be eating SCB treats.

We believe our allergies were and are a blessing…our attitude is that “We have allergies, but they don’t have us”.

OMG I have wanted to sample an SCB treat for AGES! I am supposed to keep it wheat, sugar and dairy free but find it so hard to resist when they are presented in cake form… Now SCB is catering for people like me and people that have allergies which is a good and bad thing all wrapped into one!  I am told that their cakes taste like REAL CAKE not an airy adaptation.  Roll on 18th December…
